Ultrasonography is a procedure that uses high frequency sound ways to produce visual images of organs, tissue, and blood flow inside the human body. In recent years the demand for certified Sonographers has increased due to the fact that Sonography helps the physician diagnose a patient without invasive procedures. Sonography can be used to examine many parts of the body including abdomen, female reproductive system, and heart and blood vessels.

In the area near your home you can find schools in Alabama such as Virginia College that has a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, in Florida there are five main trade schools that specialize in Ultrasound degrees. Keep in mind that the average diagnostic medical sonography salary is quite good, and can lead to a pay of almost $40.00 per hour. Americare Institute has a Diagnostic General Sonography program, Americare Institute College of Health Professionals has two specific programs: The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and the Diagnostic General Sonography so that if you wish to specialize in a department of Sonography you can tailor your education. In Miami the ATI College of Health has a diagnostic ultrasound technician degree. Keiser University and Sanford-Brown Institute have campuses all around Florida that also have Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs. Sanford-Brown College also has a campus in Atlanta Georgia specializing in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
